Sakia White

Where Are They Now? | June 2025 | By Samantha Henderson

Meet Sakia (Brost) White,

A proud Salem Hills FFA Alumni and past Utah FFA President, who says that her career is a direct result of her involvement in FFA.

Sakia White

Sakia grew up with a love for agriculture and FFA allowed her to express and grow her love of agriculture. “FFA has taught me so much! Every day of my life I have to speak to someone about something related to agriculture. FFA gave me that base knowledge of ag but also helped me develop speaking and presenting skills that I would have been hard pressed to find anywhere else.”

Sakia says that one of the most valuable LDEs she competed in was Extemporaneous Public Speaking. She says, “I feel like there are times where I am giving multiple extemporaneous speeches a day!” She’s also very grateful for the knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure and can’t believe the number of times she uses it in her profession.

To anyone thinking about joining FFA, Sakia says, “There are many different things you can spend your time doing while in high school, but I can promise you none will pay dividends to your future like the time you will spend in FFA. Networking, learning, speaking, presenting, all these things are skills you will need to be successful no matter the career path you choose. Now more than ever, we need people who can stand up and speak for agriculture and I’m so grateful that FFA taught me how to do that.”

After graduating high school, Sakia served as the 2016-2017 Utah FFA President. “My favorite part of being a State Officer was getting to know and serve members from across the state! Being able to spend a year dedicating to serving other students was a great way to spend my time and helped me develop into a real servant leader.”

Sakia attended Utah State University graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Education. While at USU, she used many of the skills learned in FFA to obtain different leadership positions including College of Agriculture and Applied Science Senator. In 2020 Sakia got married and a couple of years later they welcomed the cutest little boy into their family.

Sakia is currently employed with Utah Farm Bureau Federation as Regional Manager for the northern end of the state. She also serves as the Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee Coordinator. Sakia says, “This career is a direct result of my involvement in FFA. It was while I was serving as a State Officer that I got to build relationships with the Utah Farm Bureau. If it wasn’t for my time in the blue jacket there is no question that I wouldn’t be where I am today.”

Sakia loves the work she gets to do every day with Farmers and Ranchers in Utah. It doesn’t matter if she’s working on Bills at the Capitol or flipping burgers at a county event, “being involved in the most important industry in the world is pretty awesome!”

Sakia is still very much involved with Utah FFA and currently serves on the Utah FFA Foundation Board as the Treasurer. She loves to help local chapters with agriscience fair projects, interview for officer teams, and prepare candidates to run for State Office. She also makes sure Farm Bureau has a presence in Utah FFA by ensuring the sponsorship of many activities. We are grateful for her passion and dedication to Utah FFA!
