Andalyn Billings
Where Are They Now? | January 2026 | By Samantha Henderson

Meet Andalyn Billings,
Former Springville FFA member and 2016-2017 Utah FFA State Vice President. Andalyn is the Meat Lab Manager at Utah State University.

Andalyn joined FFA in the 9th grade. She was so excited to be in an agricultural class and to go on the State Fair field trip. She says, “As a farm kid, it felt like coming home the first time I walked into the ag classroom.”
Andalyn jumped right into Career and Leadership Development Events and loved them. She started with Creed Speaking. She says, “I’m grateful I memorized the whole creed then. Even now 15 years later parts of it will pop into my mind at different times.” She also found a passion for Poultry Evaluation. She loved it so much that her parents let her practice on their own chickens. She even told them that they should cull five hens that had narrow pelvis, but it turns out those were the Easter Eggers…whoops!
The hardest contest Andalyn competed in was Agricultural Communications. She’s grateful her advisor believed in her and put her on a team with older, more experienced members. It was hard to catch up to them, but it was an amazing opportunity. Their team went on to compete at Nationals! Andalyn’s all-time favorite CDE was Veterinary Science and those are the skills she’s used most in her career after FFA.
Andalyn ran for State Office her senior year, but was not selected, so after graduation she attended Utah State University for a semester. She wasn’t sure what she wanted to study, but she’s glad she had the opportunity to live away from home and learn more about herself. When it was time to run for State Office again, Andalyn had grown a lot and was even more ready for the selection process. That time of growth, learning, and confidence paid off!
Andalyn served as the 2016-2017 State Vice President. She says, “My time as a State Officer holds some of the best memories of my life. Thinking of the time I woke up early to watch the sunrise from the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. as a State Officer still brings tears to my eyes. I traveled all over Utah with my pet skunk, and we visited ag classrooms together. My five amazing teammates became family that year and I’m grateful to see how much we’ve all accomplished since serving. I’m also incredibly grateful to the advisors in my life, and glad we keep in touch today!”
Andalyn says her “life would be unrecognizable without FFA.” On that State Fair field trip, she became friends with a cute farm boy, and they’re now married with a two-year-old boy. They also have two dogs, nine chickens, three sheep, one llama, and one cow! Andalyn credits the life they are building to their time in FFA. “FFA built my confidence and helped me chase new opportunities I never could have dreamed of.”
Andalyn recently started a new job at Utah State University as the Meat Lab Manager. It reminds her how much she loves working with students and teaching agriculture topics. She says, “Connecting people with where their meat comes from is an exciting thing, and promoting local agriculture is my favorite part!” Andalyn is also excited to help with the Meats Evaluation & Technology CDE! She hopes to start a collegiate meat judging team and would be thrilled to have past FFA members join the team.
Before working as the Meat Lab Manager, Andalyn worked for the USDA at a wildlife research field station. This is where she used her Veterinary Science experience as she cared for the animals there. She loved giving tours of the facility, especially to FFA chapters from all over the state!
Andalyn says, “I owe my career to the leadership and practical skills I learned while being a member. I’m forever grateful for the way FFA shaped my life! Remember that you get a tenfold return of what you put into FFA. There's no limit to the experiences you could have if you put in the effort.”
We are grateful to Andalyn and her continued involvement with Utah FFA. She has served as the Nominating Committee Adult Assistant for the past several years and this year is serving as the Nominating Committee Adult Coordinator. “The State Officer Selection Process is near and dear to my heart and I’m grateful to play a small role in it for current members and candidates.”
